700R4 input shaft

About to put my transmission back in my '81 C10, it's a 700R4 out of a 1990 Corvette. Does the o-ring on the input shaft look right? I think it is how it was when disassembled but it's the one thing I didn't take photo of at the time.

That is the O-ring that seals the lockup part of the torque converter. That looks correct. I would replace the O-ring if that is not a new one.

Thanks! Here's my next question on the stupidly slow install. The converter is supposed to measure 1 1/8 in from converter mount to bellhousing when fully seated. I have been trying and trying to achieve this depth. It "clunks" on 3 times while rotating it in, but it measures at .97 inch. This is obviously a problem when mounting it to a brand new crate motor. Any advice?

Re: 700R4 input shaft

That 1 1/8" figure will vary a little bit case to case and converter to converter. it sounds like the converter is all the way in thee trans. When you bolt the motor and trans together make sure you have at least 1/8" between converter and flexplate.
