Looking for pics P03 chromed hub caps

Been here a while lurking and now getting ready to work on my truck. Itís a 68 CST C20 LWB 2wd. Iíve searched but havenít found info on the P03 Chromed hubcap option my truck has. Also, is there any way to find out what wheels it came with? SPID shows S89 165 x 825 spare wheel so would the other four have been same size?
Thanks, Joe

Re: Looking for pics P03 chromed hub caps

Yes, when new, your C 20 came with solid 8.25" X 16.5" wheels including spare and chrome hubcaps as seen in the below photo. C 20 hubcaps will have and 8 3/4" diameter hole on the back side. The '67 and '68 GM version of the 16.5" solid wheels are rare, they come with clips, not the bumps used in '69 and newer 16.5" wheels. There were aftermarket wheels manufactured by Firestone, Goodyear and Kelsey Hayes marketed for camper pickups that will work also, very similar in appearance, second and thirds photos. Many owners who aren't doing a period correct restoration on '67 and '68 C 20's end up with 16" wheels and tires, because they are much easier to find and cheaper but, period caps will not attach to bump style 8 lug wheels. There is a way to remove the clips off an older 8 lug rim and attach to a newer bump type wheel if you are up to the engineering involved.

Re: Looking for pics P03 chromed hub caps

If I wanted correct caps and look I would take a set of clip-type wheels and have them made into 17". If I found a set of your original wheels I would certainly run those. But most people feel the 2pc 16s that came on them are not sensible and most 16.5 wheels will be nub-type and tire availability is lower. I say 17" for two reasons. If you are changing with the times might as well go with the newer size they are favoring today. And, since 16.5s were 1/2" bigger than the normal 16", why not go to 17" another 1/2"? Most people won't notice the difference between any of those diameters and those who do will be ones who know to look. It will be more obvious to them the wheels aren't the common 16". But you could go either way, which is nice.

Re: Looking for pics P03 chromed hub caps

Thank you both for the info. It had the forged late message del HD wheels on it when I bought it with 2 firestone wheels and 2 split rims in the bed. Seller had the chrome hub caps but I was so excited to drive it home that didn’t realize I forgot them until about two hours into my return trip. Called him and he said he would send them but never did. My biggest regret is not having turned around to get them.

Not sure what wheels it will end up with, but I would like to keep it period looking so the forged late model wheels will go soon as I find something more vintage.

Would the original wheels have been argent/silver on a white truck?

Re: Looking for pics P03 chromed hub caps

Here's a quick pic of my Longhorn with what I think would be the GMC version of those caps. I got these NOS (not cheap) but have never seen another set!

I also have a set of 17" GMC/Hummer wheels that I can run, but prefer the look of the caps. With radials the 16.5" is a weird size, but drives fine of course.
