47-59 vendors

Just thought it would be a good idea to start a list of vendors for these trucks.
I had started this thread in the Pre-47 area, but most also work for the 47-59 era.
Here's a start.

Please share any others you've got.

Feel free to copy the relevant pre-1947 sources links from there, to here... but please don't copy and paste the whole article.

An article I wrote about searching for used Chevy/GMC truck parts.

It may be a little more work for you but why not edit your original Post #1 to include the links others provide to have them all in one convenient list.

Angry Re: 47-59 vendors

I am thinking of starting a sticky thread on vendors to avoid. I cannot beleive how some sell stuff that is so badly made it requires complete modification to fit or work. They rake in big $ and leave us holding the bag on bad parts. If you support this idea and think it would make vendors/parts
better please comment.

Re: 47-59 vendors

here's the conundrum...
Would you rather have bad parts or no parts?

With that being said, we need to keep pressuring, so hopefully the QC gets better.

In some cases "NO PARTS" may be the better effective alternative. Especially true when re-pop parts require either more work than repairing old or are made so poorly that no amount of work can fix them. Add in shipping costs and labor costs and it gets ridiculous. Then there's vendors who misrepresent either the quality or the application of the parts. I think some count on high shipping costs (like truck freight) to deter returns.

Hopefully vendors will see these comments and get their act together.

Stay away from Classicparts.com horrible customer service. And this is coming from a repeat customer buying their parts for a while. Won't bore you with the details but let's just say their catalog is in the trash and they are boycotted for life.

Sorry, but I beg to disagree. Great catalog, best prices, excellent parts, super service. Seems like any retailer will have a 1% dissatisfaction rate no matter how good they are. Sorry you were one of the few.

Re: 47-59 vendors

Guess I can add my website to the list.

There's not a lot of brands out there that exclusively deals in Advance Design AND Task Force clothing. So I came about to change that.

T-shirts, hoodies, decals, hats and more at...

I've never had a problem with them with quality, Price, shipping or customer service.

The Filling station has one of the best list of AD and TF truck parts around once you figure out how to search their online catalog. If the part exists new they most often show it even if they may not stock it Bought a park light lens for my 77 from them and they must have had to wait for a stock order to come in but it showed up and the price was fair and the shipping was fair.

Wes at www.classicheartbeat.com is a tad more expensive than the big online houses but you do get personal service from him aown builds he won't sell it to others. f

I waited months for a fuel filler hose for my 77 from Classic industries but it finally showed up. Those probably aren't a fast moving item for the manufacture though. They did contact me and asked if I wanted to wait or cancel though.

The main thing that I have found is that prices for most items are pretty close to the same across the board. Shipping and handling on the other hand is where some of them beat you up. I can't remember who but one a few years ago wanted to charge shipping on each separate item rather than one fee for the box of rather small items. That was a no sale and I went with someone else.

Re: 47-59 vendors

Vendor problems seem to be mostly associated with the quality of what they sell. No amount of customer service can make up for shoddy products. Its especially bad when item is too big/expensive to ship back or flat doesn't work right. Whats really bad is when you have paid to have an item installed and its too late. Dealing with a brand new speedometer that jumps all over despite 2 new cables. Vendor said its made that way but offered a partially refund. Every time i take off from a stop reminds me to be careful what and from whom i buy.
