Passenger side glass set after struggling for a couple of hours with the vent assembly.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

Hey, I have a quick question for you.
I'm building a new chassis for my prostreet and I'm wondering if you had ever thought of, or tried using A body motor perch brackets and mounts to set a pontiac into a C10.
Any thoughts?

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

That would offer more flexibility and parts availability. If I were building a new chassis, I would probably go that route if I didn't mount the engine on plates.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

I'm trying to get the motor as low and as far back as possible.
Mocked up on a bare frame, it looks like A body headers will work too.
Might be tight. I'll be checking that this weekend, hopefully

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

Yep, that's what I was referring to about parts availability. A lot of times people change up or do custom mounts not realizing that it sometimes eliminates the use of readily available production headers/exhaust, steering parts, etc.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

Finally got around to making the initial trim and fitment of the firewall pad and carpet. Need to do a little more persuading with the heat gun over a couple of floor contours, but the Auto Custom Carpet is molded nicely.

Halfway through with the bedwood treatment...urethane down and cured on the bottom side over red mahogany stain. Top side urethane is next.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

I'm a little surprised that you didn't go with a steel bed floor out of a 67-72...
Nearly 100% bolt in, lighter and longer lasting....
But I'm guessing you won't be tossing any virgin, grease covered tunnel port heads back there...

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

Thanks! Here are the planks laid out after the last coat of urethane. I'll spend this coming weekend using a buffer and finishing it off with some synthetic wax sealer.

All of the used steel bed floors in my area were so beat up, plus I like the contrast of the wood bed. I've finished a few when I was younger...I just don't remember it requiring so much Tylenol. I'm working on a sliding luggage rack for the bed with similarly stained and finished wood slats to make up for the space my nitrous and air suspension bottles will occupy.

The Mar-K stainless strips are trimmed and laid out. I'll tighten everything down today, and get this bed ready to mount back on the chassis soon.

Nah, ever since I broke the stock block Pontiac record, Steve has not been very cordial to me and screwed me over on my last T-shirt order. It's OK...I look at it as a lesson learned. I haven't gone back since the first time the event was held at Wild Horse Pass.

Well, that's been a while..
Sorry to hear that, I was hoping to see you and your truck in person.
A kind of "shake a hand, make a friend" thing...

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

I do have good friends and customers in AZ, and still travel out there from time to time to visit and help with their projects. Not sure if I would drive my truck all the way out there, but it would be great to catch up with you when I'm out that way.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project

Since none of the modern production wheels floated my boat, I un-retired some Ansen Sprints (15x7 fronts and 15x10 vintage rears) hanging in my shop office for the Poncho C10 project. I did some restoration work (ground out the dings and gouges, polished, then media blasted the centers). My friend runs a coating shop and had the centers coated in Titanium. Here's a sneak peek just out of the oven.

I like the look of the titanium along with the polished aluminum.

Finally got to work on my own project last weekend and got the battery box mounted and assembled and soldered the 1/0 cables. Let the wiring madness begin.

Finally getting some pinstriping done on the PonchoC10 before the rest of the sheetmetal gets mounted back on the chassis. Brian Stoner of Stoner Striping working his magic on the back of the cab and hood...
