Are they 16.5s or 16s? Only reason I ask is my '72 came with 16s. I was not aware of 16.5 split rims.... I thought all 16.5s were one-piece wheels.

Re: Rare camper wheels ?

I am pretty sure the Split wheels are 16, and the 16.5's are one piece.

Re: Rare camper wheels ?

My bad you are both right they are 16" split rims. Not sure why I thought they were 16.5" Is there any value to them? I'm changing them out this winter.

Only as boat anchors or scrap steel, unless you find someone doing a 100% original restoration. Most tire shops won't touch 'em and most people simply toss 'em.

Re: Rare camper wheels ?

I parted out this old '68 'Burb. The farmer I bought it from ordered it with 17.5 wheels. He did it so all his farm trucks would have the same size wheels

Yeah, it was a 50thbut too rusted out to save. I couldn't believe the build sheet was still in it.

These wheels could be bought anywhere and installed by owners. More were than sold as factory option.

I'll have to make some measurements on my truck. I think that is what I have. The 9.50s I just bought look OK, no rounding of the tread when you look from the back or front, like too wide a tire on a skinny rim. Mine is a "square body custom camper", I think.

Re: Rare camper wheels ?

There were no 9.25s. These wheels were either 8.25 or 9.75. You can tell 9.75s by the wider low spot where the center and rim meet

8.25":
Name: 16.5 x 8.25 kh.jpg
Views: 78
Size: 48.4 KB

9.75":

On standard 16.5s the center meets that raised area
