Upper molding removal

Getting ready to prep my burb for paint & wanted to know if anyone has experience in removing the aluminum moulding that runs around the upper portion of vehical. Just want to avoid damaging it as it will go back on after paint. I plan on replacing with all new clips later.

They are just the standard spring type clips, and a couple of clips with the pal nuts retaining them from the backside.
With the help of a drop light and a mirror, from the interior side, you should be able to reach up behind the clips with a small pliers and squeeze them and push out on the clip.

Thanks for the advice. The one area that I see where I won't be able to access the backs of those clips is the rear tail gate (unless you know a trick).

True, It should be the same style clips, so after experimenting with the side ones, you know how they work. You'll just have to go under them with a panel removal tool and locate each clip, and straddle it with the tool and ease then out. I had the barn doors on the one I removed them from, so they had access openings.
