Cutting seat foam

I ground off the teeth of this hand saw, sharpened it like a knife. Cuts foam great.

Re: 60 4x4 power steering conversion

Yea back on the picture thingy, I've been trying to figure out how to post pics straight from computer again because of what photobucket.com did, wanted to start charging and all my pictures of my build thread were deleted...So when I saw this and how 61 K-10 explained how to I had to try it, and now I can resume picture posting...
Not sure on the brake shoes unless they gave you ones for the back, Some of their books are wrong...you might try and take your old shoe with you and see if they can match something up...and reinforcing that seat frame like that will help to keep it from sagging I needed that in my ole 48 fleetline... And there's nothing like making your own custom tools, a big ole knife from a hand saw and it already has an ergonomic handle LOL...
look forward to seeing more pictures of your truck...

Re: 60 4x4 power steering conversion

Randy, thanks for suggestions.

I did take shoe in with me. No luck on comparison. I even found the bendix catalog online, that listed the same shoe they gave me.

Unless someone here knows more I will take them to sac clutch and brake, they can reline my shoes.

On cutting that foam a electric carving knife works well also.

That is exactly what mine look like, haven't taken the back off yet. That jeep shoe should be in about the same year.

I will check it out. Thanks again.

Re: 60 4x4 power steering conversion

Napa part # is TS53. LMC show's they have them. Don't know where they all went. My shoes are not jeep, just the springs/clips/ and the eccentrics as the dana 44 was used in just about every 4x4 back then. They changed in 63?64? to the star wheel adjusting type. these brake shoes go on backwards also.

Seat spring reinforcement

I will wrap the foam with burlap, then on front edge of the foam wedge I will weave a spring steel rod in the burlap, then take upholstery twine and pull tie the wedge into the springs. This will give lots of support for those springs. Will basically do the same along the sides.
