Dumb Fuel Hose Question

The stock fuel line for my 1970 C10 is 5/16", but the fuel pump inlet is 3/8".
This is because I'm following the 1970 Corvette/LT-1/Z-28 stock specs for my parts.

I'm kind of a hack sometimes, so I know that I can probably just use a 3/8" hose and crank down on the hose clamp on the 5/16" line end. Or possibly I could stretch a 5/16" hose over the 3/8" pump fitting. Or I could make it ugly and put a double barbed adapter in the middle with one for each type of hose. I think any of those would work, but I'm wondering... Is there an existing molded hose available that would have a proper size for each end? It only needs to be around half a foot long.

Maybe I'm overthinking this and the 3/8" hose would be fine, but I did have an engine fire about 10 years ago so I'm a little gun shy about any risks under the hood.

Get the new hard lines that are 3/8" and then use short pieces of 3/8" hose where you need it.

If you want to keep the 5/16" hard line, you can also get a 5/16" compression by NPT fitting, and then a NPT X 3/8" hose barb, then run a short 3/8" hose to the pump.

Good point. VIN code says 350 4bbl, but who knows what has been changed in the past 48 years by previous owners. Heck, I think I have a '67 gauge cluster in my '70 truck and there is even a wiper switch where the choke was supposed to be or vice versa.

I think in the long run I will track down that 3/8" original style line. InlineTube didn't mention it among their products. It looked like LMC had it in stainless for only the 71/72 trucks. Not sure if that is ok or something will bite me on that.

In the short run I'll run some form of adapter. At least to get it running under its own power.

Inline tube has it... I have used them and they are good quality.
