Yes, as far as I know. I found other pictures that looked the same.

A friend of mine's dad had the only one I ever rode in or looked over real close. His was a pastel blue from factory.

I've never had to work on one, but that suspension looks simple. I'm not sure how camber is maintained.

The highjack thing looks cool, but I'll bet it took the handling away.

Re: The '73-'78 GMC Motorhome

I wonder, as wide as it is, if that's a solid front axle. Could be done with 88-98 truck IFS. What I wonder about is the drivetrain, if it's 4 or 6wd. Maybe it's just raised up with fwd still.

Re: The '73-'78 GMC Motorhome

The original vehicle should be a super road tripper. Bigger than a full size van and better ride. The thing is so wide I found it takes some getting used to on narrow 2 lane roads and I found the rear end scraped the road when I went up a moderate inclined driveway. Other than that it maneuvered in city traffic just fine. I have no need for one really but I wouldn't mind having one just the same.

And look at that grille. Right era alright. With just a couple of modifications it could turn into an all out urban assault vehicle. Whatever that is.

Re: The '73-'78 GMC Motorhome

One of the best things (back in the day) you could buy parts from a GM dealer...

The 455 engine was a heavy duty piece, the 403 had a thin fragile block, I wonder how the 403's all did, for the long run???

Re: The '73-'78 GMC Motorhome

Probably got crate engines. GM got cheap on iron in those years on many engines. Cracked '78 350 heads were not uncommon, I remember. About 5# ofmeat taken off is what I heard.

I like that homespun Motorhome. Needs the chrome Tornado wheels

There's one for sale locally; LINK. There's another one in my neighborhood, usually tucked behind his privacy fence but he gets it out now and then. I always enjoy seeing them, it was such a prescient design.

It's FWD. It uses a TH 425 same as the Toronado and Eldorado of that period. -BA

We were talking about the jacked up one I showed. Appears to be, or I would assume it is, converted to 4wd.

Here is a freak that I actually like. Pretty crazy but pretty cool (in it's own special way)

A friend of mine from our local Pontiac club designed the interior for the GMC motor homes.

He also did the S/T Blazer, the original GTO emblems, the '61 Chevy front end, the '62 Chevy rear end, the '63 Grand Prix rear window and the '65 Grand Prix front end.

Got it. That's what I get for skimming through a thread.

There's a nice one locally for $4500. Well, maybe not exactly "nice" but a nice project. If I was a little younger..........

Chrome Budds on that thing. I sure don't want to take on any RV restorations.

Not too bad. I just know to do one right I'd have to be really dedicated to it. I like them like I like a boat. You buy it, I'll pay for gas when I come along.

That's cool to know. I would have liked a job like that.

Here are other GM based RVs
