Re: 1963 C-10 shortbed fleetside patina truck

The rain really brings out the Patina doesn't it. Small work is better than no work. The rain has killed some stuff for us as well, but we need the rain.

Re: 1963 C-10 shortbed fleetside patina truck

Threw a hood that Jon had laying around so it'll match the patina a little better. Has a little more rust than the blue hood but it looks better imo.

Also yanked the bed off so I can do some frame prep and fix some spots on the bed. Hopefully will have some wood in it by the end of the week.

Some spots that will need to be addressed

Been trying to help Jon (1963c-10) out as much as I can with his '63. Here's some pictures but I'm sure most of ya'll are following his build.

Getting everything prepped so he can paint the cab

Bed off. Love those wheels

Re: 1963 C-10 shortbed fleetside patina truck

Started on the brakes last night, should have them finished tonight weather permitting. Jon convinced me to put a new back bed panel on the bed so I relieved him of one from Mar-K. Placing an order for another today along with a cross sill. Thanks Jon.

Got a lot of work going into the bed the next couple of weeks.

Back bed panel is shot.

Re: 1963 C-10 shortbed fleetside patina truck

Brakes are completely done. Rotors turned, new shoes and hardware... Got the '63 aluminum grille on the front end. Turned out to be the wrong grille so it was on for maybe 3 minutes lol. Ended up being Jon's for his truck. I'll get mine on the next time I work with the truck.

Looks a lot better than the 64-66 grille since it matches the truck. Nothing against the 64-66 grille.

Might put this one up for sale but who knows it's got a nice patina and might go well on a 64-66 work truck

Re: 1963 C-10 shortbed fleetside patina truck

Think its funny I called the drums "rotors" in me previous post... LOL!!!

Obviously havent gotten the bed situation figured out yet. Been waiting on a day off where it isn't bone chilling cold, and/or wet.

I've pretty much decided that a monster notch with wide whites will be my end stance. I want a truck that drags frame. Now I just need a nice day to start.

I wondered about that but then I thought, "Did he do something we didn't know?" Maybe you were building your truck in your dreams er mind.

Hey when John gets the shop closed in I just got a new TIG to go with my MIG. I don't know how low you want to go on the front, but I have a brand new set of stock control arms with bushings. I am putting tubular arms on my 62.

Looking at laying frame all the way around. Almost completely set on a monster notch kit and accuair. Haven't decided how I want to tackle the front yet.

Re: 1963 C-10 shortbed fleetside patina truck

It's crunch time... good guys is at the end of April and I only have 5 possible days to work on the truck and get it ready before then.

I need to get the new to me 230 (high torque) and transmission swapped in, bed wood finished and mounted, and get a set of tires on the truck before I can take it to the show. Will I make the deadline?

Got the engine, transmission, and bell housing cleaned, resealed, and painted. All parts for the mechanical part of this next swap are staged and ready to go so I can jump right in and start twisting ratchets and swinging hammers

Snap on the last picture of Jon's old valve cover

I'll add my own personal touch to the valve cover

Re: 1963 C-10 shortbed fleetside patina truck

Also got to help Jon pull the 427 out and swap motor mount brackets so he could clear those headers. Looking great Jon!!!

I also got the steering column swapped out as well. Forgot to take a picture. The interior is embarrassing right now... I'll need to adjust the steering box and see if I can take some slop out of the steering wheel.
