C-30, what did you pay... if you don't mind

seems a lot of people ask about the numbers to try to get a feel for the market... so i thought i would just do it out in the open.

there's a local C-30 for sale.
4-speed, dump-dually with newer 1-piece wheels and brand new tires. working hydro dump body.

I'm sure I can get a deal based on the fact that it needs a clutch, and the already pretty low price.

lets see your truck picture (the day you got it would be cool as heck)
and what you paid for it.

We need pics!

What is the price on it now? Also, how much rust does it have?

Re: C-30, what did you pay... if you don't mind

$2000 - $3000 seems to be the going rate of dump trucks of this vintage in average shape. Obviously, nicer ones go for a little more, and ragged ones (like mine) go for significantly less. I paid $300 for mine and drove it up on the back of my ramp truck. Its beat up, all the glass had been busted out be hoodlums, and the doors were missing when I got it, but the big V6 runs great, and dup body works great and is excellent shape. It is getting the cab and clip off the white 3/4 ton below as one of these years!

I'll know tomorrow afternoon. If it's not rotten to a pile I'll be SHOCKED.
The current owner liked to talk about how perfect the FRAME is.

also, newer 350 in it.
1800 with the dump body, but is willing to torch the frame off the dump body for me to use for a flatbed. Sounds like he's in the mood to sell!

Re: C-30, what did you pay... if you don't mind

Special K,

are you right down there on the PA/MD border? I got my current driver from Taneytown (south of gettysburg) I was a little shocked to see that there was a decent amount of snow down there last January

Re: C-30, what did you pay... if you don't mind

That`s my area.I`m south of Taneytown at the opposite end of the county. So this truck was due west of Gettysburg over South Mtn.We usually get a couple/few snows a year that amount to anything.Actually, alot of western storms ride the PA side of the state line and they get a good bit more.

$300, Brakes, I suspect wheel cylinders need replacing, I6 with a 4 speed. Ran good, no smoke, starts and idles smooth, shifted good, clutch seems good. Needs tires. Picked it up off of craigslist.

Re: C-30, what did you pay... if you don't mind

The guy I got my wrecker from was wanting $4,000.I wasn`t paying that, but I worked out a trade in my remodeling services for it at that value.

Re: C-30, what did you pay... if you don't mind

too few people willing to trade like that around here! i could make even more money remodeling for classics, then restoring them a bit and selling them!

we've had nasty weather, so i haven't made the trip to see the truck yet. so much to do, so little time!
