So Here’s my Truck

I bought this in 1989. 350/350 CST. I added power disc brakes, tilt wheel and power windows. Both my boys drove it to high school. When I got it back it got a BB 454 and Ford 9 inch with Detroit Locker. I then found Edelbrock fuel injection for the BB, LOTS of FUN. Drove it for 12 years then along came an LS1 with 6 speed manual out of a Firebird with 40.000 miles for $2500. Sold the BB for $3000, installed the LS, added Vintage Air and Dakota Digital Dash. Now I get 18-20 MPG depending on my foot and have all the amenities of a new truck. THEN came QA1 coil overs front and rear including sway bars so now it rides like a new truck. It took 25 years but now I have MY Truck
Thanks for looking, best of luck on your project. Hope your as Happy as I

Re: So Here’s my Truck

I'm glad you made this thread. I got bits and pieces of info on your truck over the years, it's an avatar that has been consistent since I've been here, a steady example of ownership from our members' corral. It could be a poster child for this site. Longtime owner from before the big boom of popularity (before internet) with a story to tell of use as well as upgrades over the years. The only other thing I'll say is I really like it!

Very nice ride and dedication! I like how you stuck to the truck an ungraded as time went by.

Re: So Here’s my Truck

I would love to own a truck like that today and would have been on top of the world had my dad let me drive it in high school. The fact that is still in excellent condition shows you must have raised some good kids. Not sure if I know any teenagers who haven't wrecked their first car.

Anyways, Nice truck!

I saw that #10 on the back window!! I was guessing you were either racers or friends of racers. I used to go to the track every Saturday, we were friends with Larry Damitz and Troy Foulger. My son races 500cc winged Outlaw Karts and 450 Flattrack motorcycles. I'll try to make it out there and introduce myself

Re: So Here’s my Truck

That's a great story and a great truck! It would be cool to see as many pictures as you can scare up. You've owned it for a really long time. Also, any more details about the work you've done to it would be cool. I intend to own my trucks from here on out. Cool to think ahead of what they might be in 10 or 20 years. Makes me happy to see how nice, and fun to drive yours must be after owning it for so long.

I’ll have to look for more pics. Some of the other up grades are Solid trailing arms in the rear. Changed rear gears to 3:90 with Detroit True Trak for better performance and less clunking like the locker. The coil overs are phenomenal, handling and ride are unbelievable, by far the best up grade. It’s just a real nice truck to drive. It’s in my will going to my youngest Son with provisions that it stay IN the family. The boys flipped for it, older son gets all my tools, probably more than truck is worth so they both win.
