What is it?

Does anyone know what this bar between motor mounts is? Bought truck as a roller and dont know what size engine was originally in it. It's a 79 C10. I am putting a 454 in. Can or should I leave it? Will it clear the oil pan?

Re: What is it?

Mine has this and was an inline 6 from factory, someone asked the same question a few month ago and also said the truck started life with an inline 6.

I wish I could tell you if it would clear the big block, but I think you'll have your block in before I'm ready to drop my big block. If it doesn't clear, let me know.

Re: What is it?

I have the same bar, from what I have heard it for the six cylinders engines.
I think you will need to move it for the big block.
I will be moving mines for my small block. It's not needed.

Re: What is it?

I think Im just going take it off. Wonder what it was for. Is odd because it had v8 mounts. Unless p.o. swaped them and just kept the bar. Wonder if it is for support, strength or what?
