Rockauto.com

So last week ordered some front lower ball joints for my 66 c-10 from them they beat everyone's prices where I live by atleast $15 and I work at a car dealership and called all parts stores using my discount threw work. Finnally got my package from them yesterday and open the 1st box ball joints looked great so pressed them in opened the next box and was a different joint. Was dreading the run about I was about to get by calling them up but they were really cool and asked if I wanted a replacement or my money returned I asked them to send me a new one and shipped that day and told me not to worry about the wrong one just keep it or thow it away. Not charging me for shipping or any thing. All and all like them and would recommend them! So I have a extra moog joint any one want to buy it? Lol post pics of the wrong one in a little

Re: Rockauto.com

It's good to know that RockAuto stands by their products and services. Their prices are excellent, but I have never ordered from them.

After seeing that they went out of their way to make this right, I just might give them a shot.

Re: Rockauto.com

Same here, prices look great but I was reluctant to order because of wrong parts of customer service issues. Just might give them a shot since I need suspension parts as well!

Re: Rockauto.com

I ordered a Canadian manufactured gas tank from them for my 62 Impala that was about 40.00 cheaper than other vendors and the shipping for the tank was only about 19.00 !

Re: Rockauto.com

I've used Rockauto many times, and I've usually been satisfied.

There's always at least 5% off codes to be found on the net also.

The only thing you really need to watch is the shipping. If the parts come from 3 different warehouses; you pay 3 different fees added together.
If they all come from the same place, you pay one lower shipping fee.

I recieved a mispackaged set of tie rod ends a few months ago; and it was exactly the same. Keep the old parts, we'll send out the correct ones.

I suppose the shipping costs more than the parts profit or cost of getting the manufacturers credit???

You've still got to shop them though.
I just looked up a fuel neck for a Ranger. $69 from Rock, $39 off eBay.
EXACT same part and Mfr.

Re: Rockauto.com

They have sent me wrong parts on numerous occasions and after sending them back and losing the shipping it makes it not worth it. I don't order from them anymore unless it is for a new/common car as they don't mess those orders up as much.

Re: Rockauto.com

I have been using them a bunch lately. I just had my first problem with them last week. I had ordered some headlights with some seals and bearings. When I got my package last week, one headlight was broken. I did not even open the package to the light, you could hear the broken glass inside the box...

Well, I got online that day and went to my account page to look up the order. On there I noticed you could claim a problem without even calling them. Followed the steps and got an email the next day that a new one was being shipped out that day. This was the day after Christmas. I just checked the tracking number and I should get the package tomorrow. Best thing is, I don't even have to send the broken part back.

All in all, I am very happy with the service. I will continue to use them when the price and shipping is the best and I can wait to get the parts.

Re: Rockauto.com

I've used them a lot and never had a problem with getting the wrong parts. So far their prices including shipping has been cheaper than I could buy locally.

Re: Rockauto.com

I was just on their site today, looking for parts for my '74 C20. Prices were crazy good... but that led me to think they might be a royal PITA to deal with and poor quality. Good to hear these positive reviews. Me thinks it might be worth trying them!

Re: Rockauto.com

I too, have ordered from them MANY times in the past. Their prices are (usually) unbeatable and I've had nothing but good experiences with their customer service. As a previous post mentioned, do a quick search for discount codes and you'll always find at least a 5% off code. I always use the codes.

In fact, I have over $400 worth of stuff saved in a cart for the C20, but I'm hesitating on submitting the order until I'm done going through the truck and finding any of the other big gremlins that need exterminating.

As for shipping costs, they recent started offering some clunky function that will pull a similar part from a warehouse that one of your other parts is shipping out of (if you opt to allow them to supply a 'like' part). I'm not a huge fan of it, but for a while now, they've had a very useful feature... Once you add a part to your cart, then go shopping for more parts, you'll see a little icon next to the part indicating that that particular part ships from the same warehouse as one of the other items already in your cart.

All told, shop around though, and still try to support your local shops. For things like hoses and some of the small stuff, a local might be more expensive, but after you factor in shipping or you just would rather have it now instead of having to wait for shipping, just spend the extra $5 and go local.

Re: Rockauto.com

Used to use them quite a bit, but I've found with shipping and the hassle they're often more expensive than my local jobber shop. Summit racing is my new go-to for standard maintenance/repair parts when they've got them. Otherwise, it's local
