door switch / dome lamps

Hej,

I am currently trying to repair the dome lights at my 79suburban.

Right now there are now light and also no voltage in the socket.

My way was:

I have found these little switch in the driver door frame.
is this the "ground"switch for the dome light?
does it work like a "breaker"?

i asume that I have to switch the (car) lights on and the
knob should be in the left / fixed position, right?

next: i have checked all fuses - but maybe - the fuse isnt there (under the
dashboard) - how is the fuse called???

(cigarette lighter is the same fuse as the HORN)

would be great to get some tipps

thx in advance, stephan

ps: i know the thread "http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=481653"

Re: door switch / dome lamps

There should always be some voltage in this line. Sounds like a line cut or bad ground.

Re: door switch / dome lamps

hello again - i got the solution today by trying something.

here for all users with the same question the whole story:

1st, I measured the electricity from the switch in the drivers door.
result=white cabel - it is GROUND
door closed - no ground, door open - ground

2nd, I opened the covers inside the drivers door, found some rust
and measured ALL cabels - and as a few thread describes - "cable
can be broken" - it is/it was.

(look at the photos I took)

3rd, I replaced all cables from drivers carpet till the B pillar
(there is a connector inside the b pillar - watch if it is ok and not "corroded"

4th, I got it

thx, stef
