6K is quite a bit of cash, but if the dude is going to take it apart, and bead blast it, it sounds about right.
A proper paint job on these trucks takes quite a bit of labor, the inside of the cab needs done, the bed needs to come off, the windows need to come out, fenders removed...ect.
I would insist on seeing more than one of his previouse jobs, and talk to some customers and get there opinion on the quality of work.
You could get by for much less, it all depends on what you are wanting to look like in the end.

If he's going to take it all apart, blast everything and do a nice paint job, $6000 is just right (in fact it sounds like a pretty good deal actually). If he's going to fix your rusty panels while he's at it, then $6k is downright cheap.

6000 for paint/body? I had a quote for my swb '69, of $5500. So, I guess the extra $500 for the long bed is the difference.

The body shop that gave me this quote is going to disassemble it, and do a frame-off job. I don't think the price is too high, considering the work. They do production body work, too, but they like to do show-quality work so people will ask "Who did your paint and body work?" I have seen several of their finished vehicles, and they do a really nice job.

So, welcome to the board, from Central Arkansas. By the way, y'all need to keep all that red dirt in OK, and not send it to AR when the west winds blow, okay? And that doesn't say anything about the red mud rain!

$6K sounds okay for all the work that will need to be done. I got quoated $4500, and as you can see the truck is half apart. These trucks sure become a passion after a while
