' 99 Tahoe Oil Change

Just got done changing the oil on our ' 99 Tahoe and talk about PITA engineering !! No problem with the pan/bolt, 5.7 (350 CI) motor but the oil filter postioning leaves a lot to be desired. Tahoe is a 4WD sitting on 265/75/16's (which are to small and will be changed when they wear out to a decent size for a 4WD vehicle) but with the juice can size oil filter about 3" above the transfer case and sitting at a 45 degree angle I can't say much about GM engineering here. What happened to the 30 plus years of the filter hanging straight down on the driver's side of the block, what was wrong with that? I've been changing oil on my own vehicle's for close to (never mind, just a long time now) and this thing is a pain. Front drive shaft u-joints should never have a rust problem for sure. Just venting I guess, I like the vehicle but changing the oil is not what it used to be.
