"Oh god, what am i doing?!" or "I hope this works."

Howdy folks, heres my black(used to be red,and other colors) '68 longbed.

I honestly have no idea where i am going with this truck,im hoping soon ill figure it out, if you keep following my updates maybe you'll find out too.

when i first got it,started pulling the doors, interior and gas tank.

then pulled it into the garage to pull apart the front end.

now after that the poor thing sat for a year while my WRX STi took the front burner, now im back at it with the chevy!

Re: "Oh god, what am i doing?!" or "I hope this works."

none at all, so far the plan is, fix the cab rust, and strip down the frame.
i'd like something slightly low, fast and that i can throw around a corner sideways or spin in circles.... basically a huge toy.

got the bed off this afternoon with the help of 3 friends.

next up is the cab once my welder comes and i can brace it up.(and maybe steal a forklift.)

I like your build so far. Truck is looking good.

As far as the truck. Did you take a wall out of your house to add on to your garage? And the Subaru, is that in a bedroom? I'm just curious.

thanks man, that room you see in the back of the 7th picture is the same room(full of junk) as the room in the subaru room, its off the back of the 3 car garage, the previous owner built it as a add on for his wood working. carpeted, heated and well lit.

Earlier in your posts you had said you didn't know where your going with the truck. Have you come up with any ideas on which direction your going to go with? I'm interested in this build

Re: "Oh god, what am i doing?!" or "I hope this works."

well i think so, the frame is a bit rusted above the rear drivers side spring and a tad out of wack, thats reason enough to cut it up, so im thinking 2 or so inch body drop on the cab full suspension including disk brakes and some chassis stiffening, it has a 12bolt rear end, i dont know what i plan for the motor and trans. body will stay beat up, shop truck style.

Sounds good to me. Shop truck style is always a good route to go. You get any work done to her lately?

Re: "Oh god, what am i doing?!" or "I hope this works."

cut a few rust spots out of the firewall, thinking of cutting the lip and making it smooth, kinda held back by not having a welder or enough cash at the moment, ill post up some new pics tonight, a buddy came by with his nice camera and took some photos in the garage.

Yeah I hear ya on that one. I've been trying to work on my drag truck as much as possible in between sleep and building my friend a car. It's tough to do things without a welder.

Looking forward to the pics.

Re: "Oh god, what am i doing?!" or "I hope this works."

been looking at the hotchkis kit, i wonder if you can get stiffer springs with it to work with the sway bars, the amount of body roll on the trucks is a bit much.

Re: "Oh god, what am i doing?!" or "I hope this works."

Woofy – Cool project! The stock C10 suspension does leave a lot to be desired in the handling department. That’s why we’ve had such success with our suspension products. We have greatly reduced body roll without making the truck so stiff that it “pushes” with severe understeer or makes for an uncomfortable ride. The TVS is a good ride for the street and handles great around the corners. H-Team member Mike recently took his C10 out to the track and gave some Camaros and Corvettes a run for their money. It really surprised those drivers.

Here’s Mike having fun on the track:

Cool video, and the handling of that truck looks great!
The only thing missing from that truck was a 4 speed!

Vectorit – It is a cool truck. If Mike put a manual transmission in it, he’d probably install a 6-speed. We’re glad you enjoyed the video. We like watching it too.
