90 c1500 a/t 350 shuddering in OD/ MT swap?

hey guys. I have a 90 Cheyenne 5.7 with the auto tranny. 185k. I paid $1300 for it a couple months ago and have put 10k miles on it since with just new brake pads and a steering tilt tighten up. runs great, except it shudders on the highway when I go up an incline and it tries to get out of OD. I'm assuming it's a TC problem. it's been suggested to me that I'll either need a new TC or a TC solenoid. I put in some Shudder Fix and it's quite a bit better, but still does it.

A: does that diagnosis sound right to you? How much work and money is that going to be to fix? I do all my repairs myself.

B: is it worth it to swap to the MT on a c1500 with 185k?

I love this truck, but I'm trying to decide what to do. I want 4wd because I go climbing a lot, I need to fix the transmission, and also the AC needs to be repaired (which will matters in Houston until at least the end of september). So I'm trying to decide whether I should unload the truck and get something else or if the repairs and or tranny swap is worth it.

I personally wouldn't mess with a manual swap on that truck. I've never personally changed a TCC solenoid but I do know they are usually easy to get to. You will be into at least $50 (new solenoid, possibly wiring, atf, and filter).
