I like the old school tack mounting on column, and truck looks to be in great shape, nice buy.

What is your seat out of? Looks like a good fit, and the truck's coming along nicely.

Looks great. Mine is lowered about 4" up front and 5" in the rear, but I want to install bags so I can bring it up just a bit while driving and drop it when parked.

Hey bob I got it from ebay. Its made by Foreversharp. It was $109 with billet adapter. i see they offer a lot more styles now than they did last summer. Just search ebay for "Billet steering wheel" and you will find them around the $80-100 price rance of the listings.

That would be pretty cool. Im working on installing the Accuair eLevel right now. Still waiting for the Slam Specialties bags and front brake 5 lug conversion to arrive though.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Got my tank and compressors mounted up in the EXO brackets and ready to bolt to the frame. Also started refinishing my lower body trim. Just shining it up a little and repainting it with satin black before I install it. Looks pretty darn good. It will sure look different when I get the roof painted white, all the new emblems put on, and get the lower trim on it.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Where did you end up getting you air ride parts from, since I'm also in Canada and will have "fun" sourcing it all out. Since mine is a C-20 I'm staying 8-bolt to keep the truck as close to what it should be. Also general price of the items you bought for the air suspension so I can start my list and budget.

KMS Tools here in Kelowna BC. They carry Porterbuilt, CPP, Accuair, and they stock tones of stuff like in the LMC catalogues and they order in whatever you need. Prices are just about the same as online, so its actually cheaper for me to buy locally, which is weird. LMC charges an arm and a leg for shipping. Never ordering from them again. KMS has great pricing on air ride stuff, basicly the same as you see advertised online and you dont have to pay the shipping charges. I just looked and KMS is only in western canada.

Heres one
www.airassisted.ca

They are out east and carry almost everything. All the fittings and air line you can get from any place that deals in air brake parts. Its just DOT air brake line and fittings. Im using all the push to connect fittings on mine that came with the Accuair kit.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Yeah its actually not a bad wheel. Its better than I expected. I expectations werent very high for an $80 wheel plus the adapter, but its quite nice. Hiigh quality, and the billet adapter is good too. The black vinyl cover is kinda cheap but I am going to replace it with heavy black leather. The half wrap vinyl part comes off the billet wheel with 4 allen bolts on the back. The only thing is, I wish it was a tiny bit larger. The 14" diameter is a little small. 14.5" would be nice. I have power steering so its ok, but it might be tough to drive without power.

First off nice looking GMC, should be real sweet when finished.

Second KMS in Kelowna carries PORTERBUILT.............WHAT!!!!!!!. The KMS here in Coquitlam gave me a blank stare when i asked if they heard of PB.

Our next step is the Accuair setup, make sure to post pics of your install.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Been collecting parts... STILL waiting for my air bags and CPP brakes to arrive. Brutal. Got my GMC emblems installed, and got all the side trim cleaned up and repainted. I might install it this week. I bought all my 4 guage battery cable for the compressors, 80amp fuse block, continuous duty soliniod to control the compressor power. I made up some cables tonight with the 4 guage and copper ring terminals from the battery to the fuse and made a new 4 guage ground strap to go from the battery to ground. Just been slowly plugging away at it.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Got my body side trim installed yesterday... Im very happy with how it looks. The last pic is how it looked without the trim and fender emblems. Much better with it all on there. Doesnt look like such a plain jane base model now.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

The trim painted up looks real good on your truck.

Are you planning on running a new wheel/tire combo?

Just to let you know, if your looking for any parts that you cant buy aftermarket, there is a good guy in Keremeos along hwy 3 that has a bunch of 67-72s.

I did a search and his shop is Cawston Tire & Mechanical. He has a real sweet 68 suburban that he's building for his wife.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Hey cool thanks for the info! I will for sure check that place out. Yes those are just the wheels that came on the truck when I bought it. I have 15x8 rally wheels going on it as soon as my 5 bolt disc brake kit shows up. I hope to have racelines on it by the end of next winter.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

Looks great with the trim! Nice job on the emblems too! I need to do something like that. I found a nice set of 910 emblems in Victoria, they were in great shape aside from a hole the PO drilled right through the middle cause he was to lazy to mount them from the inside. Damn shame, I just couldn't see passed that.

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

He drilled through them? That's too bad. Those 910 emblems are hard to find. I used silicone adhesive to mount my emblems. I drilled the holes in the fenders to get the location, then used the silicone to mount them. They are never comig off without a pry bar. I also used silicone to glue on the moldings because I didn't want to drill all the holes in the body. The molding is never gunna fall off and will probably be next to impossible to remove if I ever have to haha.

Thanks! I'm very happy with how it looks. White roof is next after I fix the drip rail sealant.

That will be a good mod too! Had you considered white below the molding instead of the top as an option? I'm thinking that would be a good look too. Cloud9 is that way, and he won TOTY. I'm just saying....

Yes, I have been thinking about white on the bottom. The only rust on the truck is a small spot on the drivers rocker panel. When I repair that panel I will probably paint it white on the bottom, but that won't be until next year maybe...

Re: Baby blue 1970 GMC LWB resto-mod

I do agree it wouldn't really fit while the black wheels are on it (which was a good idea on those rims btw). but when you put the 5 lug rally's on it, the white bottom would be good. I cant fault that concept of doing the rocker first, though.
