suburban hitch

searched the archives and most of the info is old or vague. I have a 72 K10 suburban that I want to tow my 5000# car trailer with, Is there a pay my money and bolt it on deal out there? I know I can make a number of hitches work but I have no welder at the moment and just need to haul things. The only hitch I found does not have a 2" receiver to mount the 2 5/16 " ball for my trailer. Help please.

Re: suburban hitch

ECE (early classic enterprise) has the 2" bolt in hidden hitch complete assembly, t connector for trailer lights, license plate frame that lifts up, bolts, etc. First class products, first class customer service. I should have looked to see if it applies to a suburban, but i purchased it for my 68 c10 swb and use it a lot.

Re: suburban hitch

Ill try to get to it. It takes 6 bolts to mount it. I had to drill 4 - 1/2" holes, the other 2 lined up with original holes. I will be trying it out today. I'm going to pick up a 5000lb trailer and tow it for about 100 miles.

I got the plug from camping world. They are local. I used a test light to locate the correct wires for the left, right, brake and running lights. I stripped a 1/2" section of the outer coating off the wire and soldered on a new piece of 14 ga. that color corresponded with the trailer wires. Then I ran a 12 ga. blue wire from the cab to the rear. Wired it according to the instructions on the packaging that the plug came in.

P.S. This is NOT the first wiring job I'v done on vehicles!! I'm not an expert but I'm no novice either.

Sorry it took me so long. Life got busy again. I left the old hand made hidden hitch in. I figure its just added strength.
