68 C10 Sport mirrors

There are a couple of threads on here with assembly manual pictures and measurements of where to drill holes for the sport mirrors but they all are for 1971. The previous owner put them in the wrong place and I want to move them. Just checking to make sure before I drill, are the mirror locations the same for 68 to 72? If anyone has assembly manual measurements for the 68 I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Jim

Re: 68 C10 Sport mirrors

There is a drawing in the assembly manual that shows the hole locations for 67-70 sport mirrors. The problem is that the dimensions are to reference lines, which make them difficult to use. The front mounting hole on both sides of my truck are 2-5/8" back from the front edge of the door, measured along the body line. The top edge of the mirror arm flange is even with the body line.

There were no "sport" mirrors in 68 that i am aware of. If you go off the 71 template you should be ok.

Sorry, I messed up. It's a 68 but I have 70-72 Sport mirrors.

Thanks. The 71 template is close to the aftermarket mirrors I have but not close enough to be certain I'm drilling correctly. I'm planning on replacing the right side mirror with a convex and it will include a template so I'll wait to get it.

Re: 68 C10 Sport mirrors

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the diagrams. I installed the mirrors in the correct spots but I put a convex one on the right side.

That diagram worked great for me when I went to the later sport mirrors on my 68. Remember the passenger door is a little different.

If you don't mind, where did you get the convex mirror? I have the regular flat mirror on mine and it's useless.

Im in Canada and bought mine from Bill's truck parts in Courtice Ontario but LMC truck parts #38-5855 39.95, Brothers (Holley) OMA72RC 69.99 (I think this is the same for the usual Holley price jack up) and Speedway motors has them too #92633653 42.99.

Re: 68 C10 Sport mirrors

The left and right side mirrors locate in different locations! The left side sits closer the front of the door than the right side. The right side locates farther to the rear of the door so the drivers vision of the mirror is not obstructed by the wing window.
