Re: 5 day ls swap...can it be done

If I was pulling doors apart enough to get to the lock cylinders I'd be really tempted to buy a kit that uses a single key for everything.

Hehehe if your lock cyl's are old enough, one key probably will do everything
The old chevy precision security system.

Too late, I bought new door cylinders last summer when I got the truck, but that is good to know.

I blew out the speed sensor connector and now my speedo on the dash and in HPtuner is working.

I got the drivers side door lock changed out. What a PITA! we'll see if I can get the drivers side done tomorrow. Oh, I don't really expect to use the door locks too much. I'll probably get an alarm/keyless entry down the road.

Re: 5 day ls swap...can it be done

Door locks and interior handle done (took way longer than it should have), so I'm one step closer to having a daily driver.

I did a little research last night and found how the TH400 kickdown is wired on this truck. Basically the stock ECM grounded a relay to send power to the tranny. So my microswitch I'll mount near the TB just needs to ground the same relay. The wiring should be easy. Making the micro switch mount and getting it in the right location may be a little more challenging.

Look at your gas pedal bracket where it mounts to the interior firewall. If there is a semi square hole in it about 1 x 3/4 inch. You are in luck. GM has a switch that snaps into it that will work perfectly. They come on chevelles and gm trucks, etc in the early 70's with th400 trans. Its plug and play with zero alignment.

Re: 5 day ls swap...can it be done

e fans wired up
new temp sending unit installed and wired.

The last bit to be "done" with the engine swap is to make a bracket for the trans kickdown switch and wire it up and then put some wire loom on the wiring harness to help protect it.

Sounds good. Glad to see you are getting it "dialed in"....

Re: 5 day ls swap...can it be done

I got the trans kickdown bracket made. Today I took it out to run some errands. It drives fine, though I do get a bit of surging on light - moderate acceleration. I'm going to do some logging as well as run some fuel injector cleaner though it and see if one of those things clears it up.

I sold my 97 CCSB Chummins over the weekend, so the LS flatbed is my driver (I got a jeep cherokee in the deal for my Chummins, so I do have a back up)

Re: 5 day ls swap...can it be done

Curious how this is working out. Considering building a tow rig and I have a 4.8L sitting on a stand, can't be worst than a TBI 350 which is my other option.

Re: 5 day ls swap...can it be done

Same thing here looking at swapping out my tbi 350 for a 4.8 I have in the shop. I imagine it will work alot better than the tbi 350..
