Great
So what is your plan for the floor pan?
I bought a full floor from SoKy and will use my original floor for rear. Of course with Weld ins on Rear floor.

Re: 72 GMC Crew cab build

The Floor pan I purchased from SoKy looks awesome.
I hope to start my build soon.
So I can not tell you about how it fits.
Looking good.
I like the rolling frame you have.

Re: 72 GMC Crew cab build

LMC offers free shipping on orders over $1000. I got a lot of the parts for my 76 from them because I needed a lot and the shipping would have been killer.

Re: 72 GMC Crew cab build

Picked up new fire wall (Classic Parts) and floor pan (LMC) this weekend. Checked the floor pan thickness and it was not the same as factory so I returned it (LMC). I ordered one from classic parts they say it will be the same as factory.

Re: 72 GMC Crew cab build

That's going to suck if it isn't. I can't imagine 2 different places stamping floors for these trucks. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Re: 72 GMC Crew cab build

Showing up late for this one... can't believe I missed it... looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you but looks like you are killing it!! This thing is going to look so good!

If you need any parts or have any questions give Bowtie Truck Stop, Inc a call. They are located in Springfield, MN. Awesome guy to deal with! Him and his wife manage it and he is actually a member on this site - "daburb". He works on these just like we do. I bought a floor for my cab from him as well as a whole bunch of other patch panels and shipping was very reasonable. The parts are all Keyparts/Triplus. He sells just about anything you need and is knowledgeable in these years of trucks. I've called him just for opinions on bodywork, not even to buy parts, and he gave his opinion and more!

I'm sure there are a bunch of other companies that are very good and sell great parts - I am just giving my opinion on my experience. For me it's awesome, since shipping doesn't take long since I'm not too far from him. I call him at night and he ships the next day usually!

I'll be watching this one for sure! Mad skills!

Re: 72 GMC Crew cab build

Nice progress.
Will you cut the 8 inches (or so) off the back
where the gas tank would mount
and move it to the back of the cab?

Thanks for the Pictures.
This really helps at my point in my build.
I measured my Rear door/s I'm using
and 33" is right at my magic number also.
Also studying the angles of Suburban
vent glass and front vent window
for my build.
Your firewall and floor pan is looking Good.

Re: 72 GMC Crew cab build

It’s been a while but I got time to build the cross member last night. I hope to be able to stay on it all summer and get it knocked out.
