08' GMC 1500 speed limiter - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have an 08' GMC 1500 sierra work truck that has the 4.3V6 in it. I have been looking for something I could install on the truck to keep the guys from running this thing 80-90 mph down the highway. I would like for it to top out around 70 or so. I see all kinds of stuff to raise the limit but nothing really to lower it that the guys cant tinker with. I went to the dealer where I bought it and was hoping they could just change something in the computer but they stared at me like I had three eyes.

I would think it could be done but the dealer won't be able to do it. You would have to find a tuner and have him change the fuel cut out point. I think they are like 94-96 mph stock?

I am dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to the newer computer controlled trucks. Who would be a "tuner"?

Basically someone who has aftermarket software that can hook up to your vehicle and change parameters in the pcm or "tune" it, or modify it to suit your needs. I guess you could call them a reprogrammer also.
