Brakes grabing

1985 - Changed both front rotors, calipers, lines, porportioning/metering valve, and right front still grabs. Input appreciated.

Re: Brakes grabing

Low air pressure in one tire, kink in hydraulic line, alignment in one wheel way off so tire isn't flat to pavement equals less area. Hope one of these helps.

Re: Brakes grabing

When you say lines . What lines did you change . Was it the rubber hoses or the steel lines . If you changed hoses did you check the steel lines for a blockage ( blow them out ) . What does right front grab mean . Is the right front brake staying applied when you let off the pedal or is it pulling to the right only when pedal applied .

Re: Brakes grabing

Rubber and steel lines were replaced. Steel lines from metering valve to each side only. Right front wheel grabs/locks. Releases when pedal is released. If this makes any difference, the pedal seems low. Firm but low, nearly on the floor. Master cylinder "appears" new (by PO?). Just got this truck. Afraid to drive it. Guess I know why PO wanted to sell. Appreciate the input.

Re: Brakes grabing

Did the rear brakes today. New drums, cylinders, and shoes. I don't know why, but now the front brakes are working fine. All brakes working as they should. Thanx to all.

Re: Brakes grabing

On my C20, the rear axle "wheel seals" or axle seals leaked and got the shoes and drums wet, so they grabbed and lost braking intermittently. I had new style two piece wheel seals installed which stopped the leak.

Re: Brakes grabing

What do 2 piece seals look like, or how do they work?
