Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

Well I bought a better quality HEI for my 292..its from Speed Master off ebay. Capable of 7,000 RPM and has a 65,000 volt coil...and with the big carb..really burns the fuel nicely...I am running Napa premium 8 MM wires. I reved the motor to 4700 RPM when I shifted to 3rd!!!! Almost to 5000!!!! YEAH! lol! Anyhow...here's a picture...videos to follow soon.

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines

The 250 in my 66 GMC short bed . Equipped with a offenhauser intake and valve cover, hedman hedders. It had a holley 390cfm four bbl. but if you don't open the 4 bbl up the gas in the rear fule bowl turns to varnish and gums everything up. Ask me how I know? So I put a 2bbl Rochester from a 283 chev on it. Its backed by a power glide trans.

Well..that's why you floor it so the secondaries open up and let the old fuel out and fresh come in...I do that with my 292 now since I have the 600 on there. Once I get going I will leave the pedal at the floor for awhile and let the secondaries clean out. No issues yet. Nice engine you have! I like the 2 barrel idea.

Yea Back in my younger days I constantly exercised the secondairys on everything I drove. This corn gas we have nowadays go bad really fast. Ive found that all I can find is resistor type spark plugs. And point type ignition is too weak to fire a resistor spark plug with the sorry gas. So I install a HEI distributer on everything I drive. I prefer a carter AFB carb for a 4 bbl. They have float bowls on each side that feed both the primarys & secondaries.

Yeah, I am running an Edelbrock 600 on my 292 and it runs great.

BiG Thanks Guys yeah this was the second hood I made it, The first one went to a Good friend of mine who I race with. the Other hood I had made also as a 2in cowl was for a impala wagon ( late 60/early 70s wagon) which also was a 2in cowl.

Is that chain for torque purposes? Never seen that setup before.
