Ever had to install a belt kit on a 1990 GMC?

I was just planning on changing my serpentine belt as some routine maintenance before I get into trouble and noticed on a parts website that they offer a belt kit which includes not only the belt but the tensioner and idler pulley.

While I have had no belt noise or problems should all these parts be replaced as my truck has 110,000 miles on it? I know idler pulley bearings wear and the tensioner may lose strength but has anyone had to replace the tensioner and idler pulley?

Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't change it. I've had to change the pulley before but only after it started squealing. The aftermarket ones are not as good as OEM. Like the old adage - if it's not broken, don't fix it.

I had to replace the tensioner and pulleys on mine at 63K, if you can get the belt with tensioner and pulleys as a "kit" cheaper than buying everything separate, buy the kit and shelf the pulleys for when you do need them.....

240,000 miles (3rd engine) 4th belt, SAME idler and tensioner.
When they go,,, they let you know with prejudice. I have only ONCE had one actually 'fail' and need replacing to get home. Otherwise they are kind enough to let you know it's time for replacement weeks, if not months in advance by starting to be 'noisy' in the morning when you first start it.
