Got my project home finaly... With ???? PICS!!

What is the pedal next to the gas pedal for? See pic below... Also why is there only one door lock and it is on the passenger side?

Can anyone tell me about this motor? Also I need a radiator.. It runs but had a hole in the radiator and the guy left it at the repair shop 8 years ago and never picked it up.

Can anyone tell me what these parts are? These where in the truck.. I know the bumper and handles and mirror but the metal frames have me curious.

the red pieces are inside front windshield trim, very hard to find if your missing it. and the longer red piece is the center divider for the headliner. the stainless pieces are door window trim on the inside

Nice ride ....... great project.

You should be able to find a nice aluminum replacement via griffen & some other reliable vendor.

Re: Got my project home finaly... With ???? PICS!!

I have a 54 3100 here in the UK, and I too wondered about the one lock on the passenger door. After some investigation it seems that in America, it was illegal to enter the vehicle from the road side, therefore the lock on the passenger side was to encourage people to enter the vehicle from the kerb side....

Re: Got my project home finaly... With ???? PICS!!

I was told the same story about entering from the curb side. Also told that back then no one locked their vehicle. Guess it also had the chivalry appeal as the guy would open the door for his girl. My last work vehicle was so cheap a$$ that there was no key lock on the passenger side. Anything to save a buck these days.

Re: Got my project home finaly... With ???? PICS!!

Pull the door handle/lock off of the passenger side. There should be a 4 digit key code stamped on the flat shaft. Take it and get it made at an old time lock shop. The ignition MIGHT work but the glove box SHOULD.

Engine looks like a 235 high pressure because it doesn't have the cover over the spark plugs. Run the head casting on Inliners.org and you can find out a ton. Date code is above the starter cast into the block.

Your bed is a 54/55S1 with the flat tops and the ribs in the inner sides of the fenders. Look at the trans cross member and see how the bell housing is bolted. You may have a '54 frame and drive with an older cab. Easy to change in that direction.
