1972 Chevy K10 Suspension Upgrades
Hey guys, I am new to the site and looking for some ideas to help with making my 72 Chevy k10 have a better ride. The truck already has a 4inch lift and Rides great on the flats, but soon as I hit a pothole or speed bump it feels like the truck is about fall apart. Already considering the basics ( springs, shocks, bushings, sway bars). I just wanted to see if you guys had any luck doing anything different? Or any recommendations on what to hit first! Also I tried to attach picture of my truck (i kno its not the best pic) lmk if you guys are having a hard time viewing attachment!

Im sure you will get some answers here, but just in case you don't know there is a 4x4 area of the board that is pretty active and a suspension area of the board. I think suspension area has more posts related to 2 wheel drive though.

I recommend poly bushings, check for any slop on the leaf spring/shackle bolt holes. The shackle mount in the frame (rear of the front springs) is usually suspect too and there are aftermarket mounts that are way more stout. I'd look at those and upgraded thicker shackles for the front; that makes a big difference.

If you don't like the ride you described, I'm afraid you may be driving the wrong truck. That is pretty much the ride you get with these 4x4 trucks.

Do you know the details of the lift? It it has big add a leafs they can sure ride terrible. I'd suggest new 2.5" lift springs.

Really appreciate the info guys! I wish I knew more details about the lift! If I post more photos you think we will be able to figure out more!? To Davis pretty sure I gotta put some TLC to her! Not giving up! Family truck! I was referred to get the soft ride springs and bilstein 5100 shocks! Any thoughts?
67 Chevy Poly bushing? Any recommendations on brands? |

I went with a 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift. All new springs with zero rate spring added in the back. Here is the thread on it.

I agree with 67mater. If it's rattling, it's likely to be bushings or shock mounts.
But to be fair, these were not engineered to ride like modern trucks.

Mahalos for the replies! Sorry the delay in response its been crazy out here with work and the COVID stuff. I got a new 4inch suspension kit in day way! Ill be sure to post pics and let u guys know how it goes! Also was able to tare out old carpet and put in sound proof and new vinyl! Highly recommend if you guys have been thinking about it! Also recommendations/ suggestions always appreciated for the suspension install!!

Bilstein shocks and tire pressure adjusted to your truck. 33-35 tires for a lightly loaded truck should be good between 24-28 psi for radials.
