LS1 intake

Help on intake manifold and throttle body. I have a stock LS1 minus the intake and throttle body, no modifications other then hooker exhaust manifolds. Any suggestions for proper replacements so as not to affect the proper running?

What ports are on your heads?
I have a 2018 6.0 intake for the rectangular ports.

I would get on Ebay and start watching for a deal. Ls1 intakes grew very expensive with ls swaps getting so popular. You can also use a ls6 intake as well and they are suppose to flow even better.

Thank you Zach_Carver. I wasn’t sure if the other Ls intakes were a direct bolt without any other modifications.

LS1 Intake Manifold

Hello all, I am having an LS1 installed in my 66 C10 and was advised by shop that the intake had visible signs of overheating and would need to be replaced. Motor is a-ok with no issues. Can anyone tell me or share with me what causes this to happen and what possible damage could be caused to a need or gave to replace it. I’ve gone onto social media and find it difficult to find an LS1 intake. I gave astock motor and just purchased a harness which came tuned for the setup I have.

Warped it.I hate when an engine overheats all rubber seals will start failing one by one plastic connectors now brittle and crack.If mine overheats I may just tear it down and replace everything

I believe there are other applications of GEN III intakes that will work on LS1 heads. Social media is not the only place to look for parts. There is a classifieds section of this forum, plus there are several LS1 intakes, both OEM and aftermarket on ebay. It depends on what your budget is, but most any LS1 intake is going to be $$$. You may be able to use a truck intake for much less $$.

I'm familiar with an LS1 since I've owned my '98 for twenty years now. I've never heard of a situation like this. Combination of desert heat and a lot of idling in traffic maybe? My understanding is that the truck intake actually flows better than the LS1 intake and as long as you have room for it your budget will probably manage better as well. You just need the cathedral port manifold for a GenIII engine, I presume.

You are correct, the truck intakes make more HP and TQ compared to the LS1 intake. Hot Rod magazine tested them on their 6.0, LS1 was 535HP 468TQ and Truck was 549HP 481TQ.
