Thanks for the compliments Tanman and Woodbutcher! Not much happening with her lately as I'm half way through my 120 day deployment! Can't wait to get back home, charge the battery and spin the tires!!

Re: My long term 57 project

You really have done a nice job on every aspect of your truck. I am going to borrow many ideas.

I just read through the thread again looking for the year(s) that your Suburban rear tubs came out of? I like the creases and how they match the original box sides.

Re: My long term 57 project

56Hotrodred, thanks for the kind words! I've learned a lot during the build, hope the pic's come in handy for you. The wheel tubs are from the 67-72 'burbs. Thanks!

Re: My long term 57 project

That dash is a thing of beauty, kinda' like the rest of the truck. It sits right and looks right. Where did you find the cut down 55 steering wheel?

Re: My long term 57 project

Russell, I got the the steering wheel from ebay. Sometimes you can find them cheaper than the other mail order mags. Thanks!

Re: My long term 57 project

Where did you find your hood latch assy that was chromed? Or did you have it chromed? I can fined the single latch itself but not the top rail portion that goes fender to fender across the top over the radiator like you have. Can you advise?

Re: My long term 57 project

I got it off of eBay a while back. Can't remember what I paid for it. You might have to get yours chromed, if that what you want. Thanks!

Re: My long term 57 project

Well I made it back from my "Summer Vacation" and she fired right up. All I did was shoot some starter fluid in the carb. I didn't think the WalMart battery would hold a charge for 4 months, but I guess the warm weather helped.

I do love driving my 57 especially with my son! Hopefully I can finish up a few items over the winter!
