47-55.1 Brake lines

Watched Eastwood video and had a real duh! Moment. I had the dies turned around. Also learned not to be scared to really tighten down on the dies too because the lines would move and that didn't help my flares either. I was also not getting the inside burr completely, thought I was but instead of a drill bit I used tang of file and I got a lot more out. The video used a triangle thing but the tang works pretty good.

I practiced on old lines and finally decided to cut a small piece off the new stuff. It helps that it seemed softer. Flared both ends of a 3 inch piece. Beautiful!! I can't wait to start running the lines.

The original lines used the old engine crossmember. Where should the new one go if I have a swapped in v8 tubular one now?

I ran my rear line down the left side frame rail & then a flex hose to the diff.

Why is that not common practice to run it on the left side?

im sure that back in the day, the engineers / designers had a good reason to run the lines down the right side, but I sure cant come up with one.
my front lines go forward from the proportioning valve. the right line goes across the radiator crossmember to the right front brake.
the rear line goes down the left side & ends about 6" forward of the bump stop. then a flex hose runs from there to the top of the pumpkin.

It never occurred to me to run the rear line on the left side. Lol I'll be doing that. You ran one across the front crossmember? I was trying to remember what was originally running through the middle of it, there are clips. Or I could run it along the back edge too I guess.

I ran my front line across the back edge of the cross member only because it was easier. I was doing the conversion on a running / driving truck. if I had a bare frame I might run the line inside the channel
