Paint codes & dash colors

My Blazer shows a spid paint code of 11522-AA (Bronze). The dash beneath the windshield is a different color. How do I find a paint code for this part of the dash ? Thanks for all help/support.

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

If the bronze is the factory color..the dash has been repainted at some point in time.....the inside and outside were never coded to be two different colors on these K/5s

Edit:...misread the post.....I thought the OP was referring to the actual dash area where the gauges..glove box, etc.... are.....not sure about the upper part
have heard the were painted flat black...?

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

I thought all the dashes were painted with a satin black to prevent glare ?

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

Not all, some colors used a darker flat paint, such as a 503 truck would have the top of the dash painted a dark flat green. Usually they tried to match the dash pad with a flat paint in the same color.

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

This dash topside has never been painted except from the factory and it is a light tan color ?

Well I have the dash pad out so I guess I can take it in to color match.

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

Mike what color was your dash pad? Interior color/code? If parchment interior it probably has a light saddle dash pad w color coordinated to the pad. Would be flat as mentioned with defrost vents painted to match (if good color on the vents these could be used to match the paint).

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

Is this the right bronze? If you use the tan dash pad it should be flat tan, if it has a black pad, then you go with flat black.

Why do small projects always end up being more ?

Was just changing the windshield out and replacing carpet.

Then, we should make sure the frame is cleaned/painted. Frame is excellent !
Then, now's the time to change out the dash pad.
Then, we should paint the dash top.
Then, since we took the dash cluster out to get to the dash pad we need to replace it with a tach dash.
Then, since we dropped the column we need to put the NOS tilt in.
Then, we should go ahead and put the rear panels in.
Then if we put the rear panels in, we should replace the front metal panels with vinyl panels to match.

I'm sure this is not all. Reminds me of one of the first trucks I purchased. A 67 short step out of Alabama. Thought it was rust free. Was going to paint and drive. Went to put a sliding rear window in it and found some pinholes around the rear glass frame. That truck ended up in individual pieces on the garage floor !

And then ???????????????????????

Thanks Pete.

Looks like everything is the same. Body color and dash top/ pad color. Is the dash top and pad painted with the same flat color ? Thanks everybody.

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

No, the dash should have vinyl in the color you want and then you have to find a paint that is flat that matches it (I used a olive drab camouflage paint to do my upper dash, not exact but close enough for me.)

Good luck, Rg

Here are some haphazard poor pics taken in the storage shed !

Only rust around frame is where seam sealer was ? Gonna Por 15 these areas before seam sealing, primer & paint.

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

She's a beauty! That color is typical for parchment interior without black dash pad. I don't know the code. If you don't want to risk breaking a defrost vent to use to match I may have one that I can send if helpful. Pete

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

I believe GM cars and trucks used a 60% gloss as opposed to flat. Total flat does not look correct.

Can anyone else weigh in on this ? The black color I have seen on the top dash does not look total flat ? Any help appreciated.

Re: Paint codes & dash colors

Mine with original paint appear flat. So much so that's the finish I went with on the blue blazer build: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...&postcount=137

If the point is to reduce (or eliminate) glare shouldn't the finish be flat?

Great topic I had no idea. What would be the correct top of dash color for a medium olive 70 with black interior?

If the dash pad is black the dash top will be flat black.
