Complete set of 66 Suburban deluxe seats

I'm considering selling the seats out of our 66 suburban. We have all three seats in their original condition, the rear two seats are in very good condition with light wear and no tears, the front drivers side needs a bit of foam and is worn and torn...but complete. The flip forward, front passenger seat is in lightly worn condition with one, small, 1/2" tear in the seat middle...otherwise very good shape. The vinyl across the top of all the seats is complete with no tears. The frames on all the seats are in excellent, unbroken, shape.

Please take a look at the pics and advise a fair price to ask for these seats.

Thanks for looking and hopefully answering!

Re: Complete set of 66 Suburban deluxe seats

My take on the subject is based upon how well your seats will clean up. A discerning restorer wishing to replicate his original '66 interior must spend a ton of money on fabrics and then labor to have "correct" seat covers made from scratch. That's IF he already has the frames. Finding complete individual seats is hard enough, let alone the whole set.
If the back two seat covers will clean up to look near new, then I think they are worth at least as much as the cost of cores and restoration, after all they are the real deal.
If the fronts can be cleaned and repaired with original fabric then you've pretty much got everything you could ask for. The hard part is finding a buyer who wants to stay original and not take the inexpensive way out.
Just guessing here, but the fabrics alone might cost a grand or more (call SMS for a quote). A complete set of cores has to be close to a grand too. Add the restoration labor and you are talking serious money. It's no wonder most truck guys just go cheap.
I'd try to get those seat clean (CAREFULLY) and see where you stand. That'll make the difference. -Just my take

Re: Complete set of 66 Suburban deluxe seats

Thank you OEM,

We realize that with the direction we will be going with this burb that recovering the seats in something else would be a disservice to what we have. These seats belong with somebody that needs/wants them more than we do...at times we struggle with that realization, but know deep down that it is what needs to happen.

We are hesitant to fool with these seats too much and do more harm than good out of ignorance. We may carefully try and clean the seats a bit, or just price accordingly and let the new owner clean/refurbish at their discretion.

Thank you for the input!

Well YB, the seats are the hard part to find...you can always chase down the rest of the burb

Does the rest of the board (at least those that visit here) agree with OEM's evaluation...$2000-2500??

Thanks for the input!

Haha! I wish, if I pulled a stunt like that I would have to buy a burb just so I would have a place to live

Easy does it, Rock... If you re-read my post you'll find the only value I was willing to put on it was close to a grand for a complete set of cores. If the seats don't clean up really well, then that's basically what you have, cores.
But if they look amazing, AND you find the perfect restorer/buyer who has no seats, then how could they be worth less than the cost to do them new from scratch?
The bottom line: they are only worth what the highest bidder will pay. I personally would pay a premium for the real deal, but alas, I don't need them. Now, if you had that middle floor mat ....

I don't like Ebay and would rather find the right buyer here...therfore no "highest bidder". We're not looking to make a killing here, just trying to find a fair starting point...we can't go up, only down. Now, if you had that middle floor mat ....You'd pay a couple grand??

As always, thanks for the input!

Re: Complete set of 66 Suburban deluxe seats

Hey Rock IMO, First off nice set of seats. My experience with suburban seats, is supply & demand at the time off sale. and if you don't mind storing them to get max $. With that being said this how i price my individual seat, fronts complete $200-$450, 2nd seat $500-$1,000 is rarest seat to find they don't come up very often,3rd $300-$600. In the conditionthat there in i woud not hesitate to ask $1500-$2,000 for the set. Remember IMO. Members might think thats a little high but try piecing a set together.Lots of time & leg work involved.

Thanks Perro, I really appreciate your input. We are really struggling with whether to sell these or just reupholster them and move on. I almost wish they were in worse shape and we wouldn't feel so bad about changing them up
