Need help...replacing v6 with carbed 454 and t400

Hello, I’m a member here and have a build thread that has been dormant for awhile. I’ve got a friend that wants me to pull his v6 and tranny and replace with a carbureted 454 and a t400 tranny. Part i need help with is wiring..... do I just unplug the computers, wire up the starter, run mechanical gauges etc....

All the fab work of the swap is where I accel, but the little wiring details has me concerned. Any help, advice or links to this kinda swap would be great, thank you.

Come on, gotta be someone that has done this the right way.

Really I just need some advice on how to use the factory gauges and basically have all functions of the truck feel as if it had the original setup.

Also, a good recommendation for a radiator also would help.

Thanks for any advice

This section of the forum is a pretty quiet neighborhood compared to the others. It may take a bit before someone replies.

Tagging along as I am planning the same basic thing, just using a small block for now, so hoping to learn along with you.

If possible, you should start a build thread and document the process, everyone loves watching other projects go together and you can get some great ideas and sugguestions from others during the process.

Not a carb, but maybe DirtyLarry's swap may give you some info.

Looked at an LS swap and realized the gage senders are separate from the computer. So should be a plug and play on gages. Speedometer I am not sure how you could do that.

Seeing as how the speedo is electric you're going to need a VSS hookup of some type. I think that T400's were used in those years so just search for the proper sensor for that year.
