Swing Arm Tire Carrier question

I have one of these still in the box - purchased in the early "80's. Has instructions all the parts, bolts and nuts included... I'm thinking about using it on a Blazer that I'm working on right now. Problem - is the mounting. I'm putting a chrome step bumper on the rear and was looking at the mounted tire hitting the bumper when the carrier is locked to the tailgate. Can anyone post a few pictures of one mounted on a Blazer? Thanks

Re: Swing Arm Tire Carrier question

Here's a few I have currently on my computer. I'll see if I can get some more tonight since the spare is off the carrier right now.

Re: Swing Arm Tire Carrier question

Thanks BT, I'm curious to see how far the top of the bumper sits below the tailgate bottom. At first glance, it looks like it is touching the tire. Do you mind giving me a few measurements? What size of tire is on the carrier?

FYI, if you don't hear from me, I will be back in the country (US) around the end of March. Thanks DP

Re: Swing Arm Tire Carrier question

the tire does not rub against the bumper, but it is very close. My tires are approx 31.5" tall. My step bumper is slightly different than the ones available now. I think you will probably run into issues with clearance both with the tire and the brackets, especially if the step bumper has an upright lip on the top.

With the swing away on, it is extremely difficult to change the bulb in the tail light. The lower bracket covers the lower lens screw. I switched to the LEDs and haven't had to worry about it since.
