Question Been doing some checking

Anyway, are you SURE that you can't use '58-'59 Chevy front fenders? I believe that the hole piercings for parking lights and trim are different - and thus different GM part numbers - but that the basic stampings are the same.

That's an email from a guy at Chevy Talk. Can anyone shed some light on this???????

the guy is correct... the basic stamped shape is the same, the GMC parking lenses would be workable if you can use the old fender as a template to drill the holes. rico_bob

No they don't... If you want to buy new ones, let me know, OK? It is getting pretty hard to find any good used fronts for 58-59's anymore, that is for sure. If you do find some used Chevy fronts, be prepared to do some body work and some work on the fronts to mathc the GMC pattern. My 2-cents worth... rico_bob

Thanks Rico_Bob. I don't know how much customizing I'm up for as I dont' know how to do any! I have the word out to a few of the people from the southern states and around there to keep their eyes open at their Junkyards for me. I can pick them up when we meet in Indy. I'll also keep looking around Canada too...I think I can find some in Ontario as well, but shipping something that size will cost me a pretty penny!

thanks for the insight!

How bad are your fenders? I see from the pictures that they don't look half as bad as some I have seen. There are many patch panels avail, from the rear section, fender braces, eyebrows, etc. that you probably could fix what you got for a lot less money, although I haven't seen the whole fender. Just a suggestion. Be careful on buying aftermarket fenders though ,as quality varies, and be prepared to do some custom fitting as theses things will need some massaging to fit perfect, I speak from experience.

The whole back of the fender on the pass side is gone... and the eyebrow's of the headlights are non existant! THe top of the drivers side is shot..I believe... I can't remember now... it's under 2 feet of snow still. You can't tell the pass side is bad cause we sprayed black over it so it wasn't so ugly in the pics!

Here's the pass...you can't see how bad the eyebrow is...but you can see the back of the fender.... there's is rot thru the top part of it as well. I don't have a driver's side pic that shows how bad it is..but the whole top along the hood is gone right thru!

Lightbulb Waitng for the BUS?

I like the short Fleetside bed! That will be a nice truck someday!

HEY! Try this idea!

Shipping on the bus lines is done in the states all the time. Here it is called Greyhound Package Express (GPX). I am sure they have that in Canuck-ville as well?

They put the packages under the seat area in that huge open storage bay. Works for doors, fenders, and hoods.

Check with the bus lines up there! And if the Ontario used fender guy has some good fenders, then low cost shipping by bus may be worth checking into!

My tcw... rico_bob
