Is there an easy or a trick way to remove the front fender emblems - talking about the ones that say Cheyenne Super or GMC 1500 as an example - or does a person have to remove the inner fender to get at them??

If you loosen the rear half of the wheel well you will be able to pull it back and reach up there with a socket. But beware the bolts around the outside of wheel well have clips that like to break and just free spin.
