Re: my new project

here are a couple of pictures in daylight. truck needs complete interior and a lot mor.e. good news is the only rust is rocker panels and a little on one door. this is going to take a while right now I have$2500 in both trucks my biggest expense will be the motor and transmission swap which I will have done. by someone who does this for a living. hope to get some of my money back parting out whats left of donor.

Re: my new project

slowly making progress. started cleaning up interior.parchment visors and headliner will clean up good enough for me. have a local ls swap shop lined up to do the swap. lucky for me he wants remainder of donor truck as partial payment. many parts are on the way including Dakota digital gauges that I really had a hard time deciding to spend that much .I have a couple of later model seats I am debating on using. have to decide on seat covers. will update soon with pictures.

Re: my new project

well I think I caught a break today. I have been searching and calling all over looking for some new wheels and tires.really wanted a set of20'' ridler 645 but they are on back order. for now I settled for these used18'' tires and wheels. for $300 I saved some money for other goodies.

Nice score on the truck and the wheels and tires. I'm in to follow on the build. Any luck finding anyone to do the work yet?

made some progress this weekend. got most of the interior done. seats are wrong color but they will have to work for a while. thinking about black and white houndstooth insert for seats.alternator is not working but got one ordered.removed all factory a/c components vintage air set up coming soon.used vent on gas tank for fuel return so now im trying to find a vented gas cap that fits. still have a lot to do but it runs great.

I can't tell from the pics, but do you have the air working? Is the compressor in the stock ls position?

no a/c yet. going with vintage air so I think I will have to mount compressor up top.

Re: my new project

slowly making progress. installed mirrors. got some new tires and wheels.redid woodgrain on tailgate trim and all ready lost the C letter.repainted rear bumper.did some painting on interior.previous owner had painted the door above the door panel white so I repainted it orange. have a problem with charging system I have not figured out yet. still need bed wood and vintage air.got it tagged and inspected so its driveable now. really like the easy start up and overdrive transmission. it will never be show quality but I would rather drive it than my 2018 Silverado im through rambling . updates coming.

Re: my new project

made a little progress on interior. installed a radio but need to find a better bezel or trim to put around the cut dash.added some new woodgrain. I put a spring in column shifter to tighten it up. that was a pain. iwrapped the end of a piece of wire around spring to keep from losing it inside column then pulled it out when through. worked better than the magnet trick. updates soon.

Re: my new project

What shop in the Houston area did you use on the motor? Did you do all the interior work yourself?

Ok thx, I can understand that. My truck is in Texas right now at my son's house. I wont be able to work on it until the summer when I get there. It needs some interior work and other stuff so just trying to get a jump on possible shops for stuff I cant figure out.

Your truck looks great and gives me hope that I can get most of the interior done myself.
