48 Truck engine

I have been offered (for a few $$) an engine out of a 48 Chevy/GMC fire truck. The truck is long gone and engine was actually pulled to have it rebuilt but plans changed and now the engine builder wants to get rid of it. It has the distributor, intake and exhaust manifold, valve cover oil pan and side pan, all still assembled. The down side is there appears to be a frost crack on the drivers side of the block but know nothing else about it.
Engine code is BK if that tell anyone anything.
Any value, any intrerest?

Re: 48 Truck engine

I've tried to sell my 58 235 long block, manifolds and bellhousing locally, on craiglist and here. No takers so this spring it goes to the scrap dealer.

Re: 48 Truck engine

I think that is what he is planning to do. Seems like someone somewhere could use it.

did you try stovebolt.com You do not need to pay to place a for-sale thread. Im a member there two and have seen many for-sale that sold pretty easily and quickly. Give it a try! Nothing to loose and something to gain for someone else.

Re: 48 Truck engine

The engine out of the 48 might not get you much if any at all. Unless the engine was swapped out at some point in its life with a later model engine you won't find much people seeking it unless they are doing a original restoration and are in need of a exact replacement.

I will, I hate to see it got to scrap, but am getting tired it being in the way.
