I'm converting my 85 silverado from power to manual windows. Are all the new regulators about the same quality?

I doubt there are more than 2-3 manufacturers. I have bought several regulators over the years for 69 pickup, 55 car, and now 82 pickup. Each was from a different vendor, but all worked just fine. I'd suggest a reputable company with a decent return policy, like LMC Truck, ClassicParts.com, or Brothers Trucks.

I just remembered this: Be sure to check with GMCPaul. He's a member here and has been selling truck parts for many years. I always heard good things about him on the 67-72 forums.

I bought the 4 Seasons regulators and GoodMark crank handles from Summit Racing, everything looked, installed and works well.

I see that the regulator is made in Taiwan. In my experience with a 55 car and 69 and 82 trucks, the Taiwanese make very nice parts. In fact, they're usually as good as or better than OE parts.

I have always heard the wheels were too small, is that the case?

I previously fixed a few issues with these power windows, only to have the harness from the motor to the switch develop a short. Thought about doing the LMC conversion, but I'm a low option guy, I like base cars/trucks with big engines.

No, the rollers fit the tracks just as good as OEM. I've had real good results with parts made in Taiwan and Japan. Back in the eighties, I installed a lot of Japanese made wheel bearings, never had one fail. Can't say the same for the Chinese stuff though. The GoodMark handle in the picture is a very nice part, especially when you consider the $6. price tag, I'm ordering a couple of spares.

Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming. Retired as a factory automation products salesman. Worked part-time over the years for an engine builder and a classic car repair shop. Member here for 23 years! This is the very first car/truck Internet forum I joined. I still used a dial-up modem back then!
