Doug Thorley Tri-Y Headers in 80 1/2 ton fram

I am thinking on the Doug Thorley Tr-Y (Summit # THY-300Y-C) and was wondering if any body has any experience with them?

These will be going in my 80 1/2 ton frame with a 56 chevy truck body on it and on a GM Ramjet 350 engine.

It looks like they do not include O2 sensors and I will have to cut a hole in the collectors or shortly after!

I have done several searches in a variety of forums and it looks like some have had to trim the frame out a bit and others have not.

If anybody has used them how low do the hang?

If you have purchased them and you had to order another pair or do it again would you order the same headers.

Any thoughts?

Thanks much in advance

Re: Doug Thorley Tri-Y Headers in 80 1/2 ton fram

After much research I purchased a set of Chevelle Camaro headers for my 80 1/2 ton 454. I've not installed them yet but from partial mock up it looks like the passenger side motor mount clam shell will need slight trimming. My truck is on air, the Chevelle headers tuck up tighter inside the frame rail than regular C-10 headers. Others have said the Chevelle headers point directly at the transmission cross member, I'm planning to build my exhaust using mandrel bends, I'll deal with the cross member issue later. If need be I'll use a universal cross member to fix the exhaust issue.

I'll let you know later, spring time when I get back on the truck redo.

I have the DOUGS part number in 3 c10s. Fit great. 2 of the 3 required minor clearancing on motor mount bracket on the driver's side.
