What is Your Other Hobby?

What else distracts you?

Personally, I took up brewing beer in February, have done a handful of batches, beer gets a little better each time. The picture is the mash process of a dry irish stout, I currently do all grain brewing using the BIAB (Brew in a bag) method. This allows you to mash, and boil in the same pot.

My wife and I love to camp... okay, we love to glamp, we often take our canoe.
Trailer is 23ft with one slide out, lots of room inside. THe canoe was made here in Cambridge Ontario in the 70's, it is a Coleman Craft. The way I understand it is that Old Mr. Coleman could not afford the litigation brought on by the "Coleman" company, and he packed it in many years ago. This canoe is the nicest I have ever paddled, I really should buff the oxidization off and make it look pretty again.

Speaking of my wife she has said a few times that she would like a hobby, but can't think of anything to do... Trust me, for her, shopping is a hobby, an expensive one at that

So anyway, what is or are your "Other Hobby(s)"?

Edit:
The canoe rack, I made this from aluminum extrusion profile, which I sell. It comes apart into 3 pieces and tucks away not taking up much space at all when not in use.

Re: What is Your Other Hobby?

As a family we go RVing (I don't call it camping either) I enjoy bowling and mountain biking aside from cars.

Re: What is Your Other Hobby?

I collect, rebuild, and hoard old tube amps and guitars.

I also collect WW2 era military firearms, and am slowly working on a '65 Bel Air and '56 Mercury Phaeton.

Re: What is Your Other Hobby?

Not sure I can post gun pics here, but my first real hobby was junior competitive shooting, club level bullseye and later steel and practical. I've built and collect custom 1911s and BHPs, and other firearms since I was a kid. Byproduct of being around machinery and tools of a mechanic uncle and a gunsmith uncle who both basically raised me. Aside from that, blown Pontiacs on nitro, and restoring Buicks and Pontiacs.

Re: What is Your Other Hobby?

Hobbies??? Too Many!!!
I like to build old junky guns!
I wanted a Trapdoor Carbine but refused to pay the outrageous price they command so I built my own outta parts!

Here's a S&W Combat Masterpiece I saved back to original

This rifle was locked in a leaky car trunk for two years & was rusted shut- with a round in the chamber & a full magazine! It turned out nice. I call her "Cream Puff"

This rifle is an H&R Self Ejector .22 that was burnt in a house fire

This is a full size Russian .22 Training Rifle patterned after the 91/30 Nagant. Believe it or not someone had made a LAMP outta this! Restored to it's former Godless Commie Glory!

Oh yeah I like to leave Parking Turtles for folks also...

Cool table, cool old camper, I actually play a little guitar, just an old acoustic, neat stories, looking forward to hearing what everyone else does when they aren't working on their old trucks...

Re: What is Your Other Hobby?

I do autocross, or at least used to until I got busier building vehicles.

Previous vehicle, Lotus Super 7 replica, built from scratch, not a kit :

Current vehicle, Pontiac Firefly (Chevy Sprint) V8/RWD conversion:

Also started getting into Cigar Box Guitars:

Normal is boring, and pretty close to no fun at all...

Oh we do. We are taking a 2 week trip to the Grand Canyon in the RV I posted earlier this summer. We are all really excited for it.

This thread is depressing, I’m a workaholic. Do stressing and drinking gallons of coffee count? I used to hike and mountain bike.
