Question What is it worth?

I need help and you guys are extremely knowledgable about these trucks. I looked at a '71 swb today. It has a recently rebuilt 350 engine. New exhaust, radiator and other parts. Good tires, rally rims, chrome factory bumpers (front and back) The front clip is in pretty good shape (no rust) The cab and the box are both swiss cheese, rust everywhere need to be replaced. The guy wants an offer. Oh, the tranny slips in reverse, not bad but it does. Thanks, Mark

Even just a little slip means either it is low, or headed south.
I would offer less than a grand to start off with.

Yep, if the tranny is slipping now, i wouldn't count on getting too many more miles out of it. If the cab and bed are beyond repair, i would start pretty low, lets say $500-$600 and go from there.

Wow!! You guys are quick. Thanks a bunch. I was kind of tossing around the idea of showing up with a trailer and 400.00 cash (with a little extra in the billfold) I was thinking around 500.00 tops. Thanks again!!! Have a great week.

I base all my descisions on what kind of shape the cab is in. (as far as rust goes). The areas around the firewall etc. are a mess to fix. I would offer no more than 5 or 6 hundred dollars. He probably thinks he has some sort of "rare gem" though, and will tell you that you are crazy. Just prepare yourself to walk away. Maybe give him a number where you can be reached before you make your offer. Then after he tells you to go to he!!, and then later thinks about it (and gets no other offers) he'll call and say, OK! $500 dollers it is! Darren

Well I would agree with the other guys on the price of it. Are you planning on parting it out for another truck you have, restoreing it to stock, or modifying it?
Sound like that tranny is about to go..... just enough to make it home probably. Or could just be low on fluid.
On trucks in that shape its a little easier to figure price than on restored ones because of "cover up" techniques and such.

I have a 72 Cheyenne 10 with a V8 350 and a TH-350 auto-tranny.
Ochre/White/Ochre
Runs well... working on body.
Plan to get painted weekend before memorial day weekend.
Planned to be done March 7 when I turned 16. Didn't happen. Chose to do better job and be behind schedule instead of 1/2 doing it and it looking like junk.
