72 2wd blazer build

The notch WAS an 8" I cut it down to 6.5" because thats about all the room I wanted to give up on the inside of the bed. I use every bit of the 6.5".

If I take the 4x4s out of the front and rear, the frame sits level at 2" off the ground from front to back. I havent measured the pinch weld.

The notch comes into the bed floor about 3 or 3.5" I cant remember right off hand. It will be covered with sheetmetal and the seat should cover that, even if I have to modify the seat a little. I cant afford to lose the seat because my wife and kids like to cruise sometimes too.

Please please please, post some more pics of the blazer body on the rotisserie and please explain some of the details about that adventure. I am getting ready to build my own, they are too expensive and I am going to place my 70 blazer body on it. Thanks....great site, I just found you all!

I forgot how sexy the 2wd Blazers are! Now I want one. I spent 8 years looking for a short/fleet. I'd probably spend 20 years to find a 2wd Blazer!

Its been a while, but I will have an update for you guys in a couple of weeks.

As far as pics of the rotisserie, It wasnt mine. I borrowed it from a friend. I can probably get some pics, but it may be a while.

Thanks for the bed diff pics! What are your plans for finishing this area off! This is probly the are of my 70 that I have not decided on yet.

Body rotisserie question again. Was that a good set up for you? Other words, would you recommend that set up or was it not worth the trouble? Also, was the whole set up bouncy and did the body stay strait and solid? I see you braced the doors, was that part ok? Sorry for so many questions but this is where I am now. Any pics still left that may show details of your set up? Thanks so much!

The set up worked pretty good. It was kind of a pain to get it all set up on there, but was worth it in the end. As far as being bouncy, no it wasnt. The body seems to have stayed straight. I have the doors on it now and they still fit. I would say that you definitely need to brace the door openings or leave the doors on. All in all its alot of work to put it on the rotisserie and take it off, but the end reslut is well worth it. The bottom of my tub looks better than it did new. And it should last forever.

mine is from williams street rods, it came from parr automotive in Oklahoma City. Hagan street rod parts has the same door.

I do still have it. I just use it as a parts runner for now. I am still collecting parts to make it nice. Someday. I picked up a clean, original, 70 jimmy that I'm having fun with until then.
Reading this makes me wish you had held on to the 72 just a liitle bit longer.
