Re: Project "E.P."

Sounds like a plan, I'll send you my contact information and if you want you can call me and tell me a week or two in advance when you're headed down there. Or you can just send me a PM, either way, my dad said that would be a million times better than driving all the way to NC.

Awesome! I'm glad you ended up on the board. I almost bought your truck in Moultrie, GA about a month ago! I thought about it real hard to make a patina'd shop truck, but decided I just didn't need another project. Here are pics I took of it in Moultrie.

BTW, If you decide to go with smaller mirrors, I'd love to have those Jr West Coast mirrors. They are what came on my '67 C-30, and I need a set of them. Just let me know.

Re: Project "E.P."

Haha, that's insane. Thing is when I was up in Moultrie, I was going to buy it that Saturday, and was in the process of handing the guy the money to hold it for me, when I realized I hadn't asked if he had a title yet. As had happened twice earlier, he said no and that he only had the bill of sale. Our hopes were shot then as it's a huge pain to get a title in Fl. We ended up talking to him like two weeks later and he said he still had it so me and my dad went to Moultrie and picked it up. By the way, that guy has a whole entire field of trucks new and old, so if you're looking for some parts you may want to check there. As for the mirrors, they're yours as soon as I get some new ones for it, my plans are to make this a driver as soon as possible. I'll go check on the prices of mirrors next time I head into town. We almost ended up buying that Ford when we found this one didn't have a title but that one didn't have one either, I'm glad we went with the C10 instead though.

If want, I can send you some of the correct mirror arms for the 67-70's. They are like the ones on the '68 below. You would just have to buy a set of 5" round mirrors that will cost like $20. They are about the cleanest looking mirrors for these trucks IMO.

BTW, I think you'll be much happier with the C-10 than the Ferd. These trucks are gaining value and popularity at a higher rate than any other truck out there right now. Below is article talking about the status of these trucks in today's market. It has been posted here a bunch, but you may not have seen it being a new member. Its a great read.

Nah, don't worry about the arms, I plan on going with some different mirrors. Thanks for the offer though, thanks for the article as well. I'm gonna go read it right now.

LOL! This is what happened!

My little sidekick hijacked my computer. She was at home with Mommy this morning to get registered for kindergarden, and my wife told me she was typing on the "truck board".

Either that, or I got so drunk last night I can't remember even drinking! Did I really go to work today?

Re: Project "E.P."

Not too much, like I said checks hardly ever come to me lol, gas and insurance take it all up, I did just use this last check to buy windshield wipers, shocks, and new wheel bearings (inner and outer) so I'll post some pics of the shocks on in a second and of the stuff I bought. Gotta get in touch with Erik real soon here to see when I can meet him.

Update: So just the other day went and blew my measly little paycheck on some parts for the truck. Found out this build is going to take a LOT longer than I had hoped at this rate. Maybe I'll get a second job over the summer and speed things up. Anyways, so far since the last update I've got the wheel cylinders rebuilt, packed the bearings (haha that was fun), and put new shocks and wipers on. It's a lot of fun putting new stuff on your truck that's for sure, just wish I had more to put on lol. As you can see, the wipers really needed to be replaced. Enough talking though, here are the pictures. Yes, I know, my updates suck, live with it.

Re: Project "E.P."

So, another update, was bleeding the front brakes after completely finishing them this weekend and guess what, the master cylinder went out, WOOT!!!! Went to the auto store and bought a new one put it on filled it with the brake fluid and started pumping, go me for being an idiot, nothing happened, found out that you have to do some prep stuff before pumping the brakes. Hopefully I didn't screw anything up, gonna work on it some more soon.

Re: Project "E.P."

Going custom, gonna go with a 3/4 static drop, bolt on a posi rear, disc brake conversion, go with a 400 out of a 68 olds 442, not sure what transmission I want on it yet. Plan on getting the paint to look something along the lines of this or this. Should be a while before any real progress starts showing. Awesome truck by the way, that black and white paint scheme is awesome.

Re: Project "E.P."

id go stock if i were you, i wish my truck wasnt so modified, i would put on disc brakes, a th350 or 700r, maybe a small block, power steering and just do the body work that needs done maybe lower it, and keep the paint and body mod's stock just my opinion anyway

Go to USHIP.COM. you can find someone to pick it up for you and save money. It is like ebay you get bids for the shipping and accept the one you want. I use them for large items all the time.

Re: Project "E.P."

Yeah man, it's tough. Your truck is looking great so far, any estimates on when your going to be done? As for my truck you guys, I've finished all of the brakes on it, got the master cylinder thing worked out and am waiting til this Friday coming up and I'll have the money to buy a new exhaust for it. If all goes as I'm hoping it will by this Friday I should also have the money to buy a new front fender, rocker panels, cab corners, and some floor patches, as well as the exhaust. That's if all goes as hoped.

In other news, I threw a rod and blew a head gasket on my 1997 Saturn SL7. Called Pick N' Pull and they said that they'd give me 176.00 if I can drive it there and 121 if the have to come and tow it. Some of you will say that I could get more by parting it out but I really don't feel like pulling all of the parts off of that thing and having a heap of junk sitting in my parents yard, don't think they'd approve of it anyhow lol.

Re: Project "E.P."

It's a refurbished one from Advance Autoparts, cost me about 17 dollars I think. Now new ones cost 56.00 if I remember right from there. Learned a lesson when I went there a week ago though, and that's to always open the part you're buying before you take it home. Bought some brake shoes from them and took them home and opened them up...they were used and had cracks in them. Took them back and the guy said that they sometimes had people bring their old ones back in for a core charge and that other employees would take them thinking they were new and put them back on the shelf. He was cool about it and appologized so it's all good with me.

Re: Project "E.P."

Way to go on the truck man. I got my 68 SWB when I was 17. Yours is in WAY better shape than mine was. I pieced mine together for about 6 years, scraping together money for parts during college.
If I have one bit of advice, carry a fire extinguisher in it!
