opinions and personal experience on lizard skin?

Hey guys. Im in the painting stage of my 71 c10 project. i had everything sandblasted and Ive got everything but the cab coated in epoxy primer. Im debating on using lizard skin sound deadener only on my cab floor, behind the gas tank, on the inner firewall by your feet and possibly on the roof inside the cab. What are your guyes reviews and opinions on this? And if i should do it how should i do it? spray it on the bare metal? or should i spray some epoxy primer first then spray the lizard skin? Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Re: opinions and personal experience on lizard skin?

I've used it before and love it, and I'm planning on using a home made version on my '66. I'd definitly use it over epoxy- it's water based so you wouldn't want that getting on bare metal.

Check out my thread on making home made lizzard skin for $10 bucks per gallon.

Here's a cab that I used Lizzard Skin on, two coats of Sound Control, and two coats of their heat insulation.

Re: opinions and personal experience on lizard skin?

Ive used it and products like it(quiet car etc.) Looks good, sticks fairly well but the sound deadening qualities are questionable. If you just want it to give a uniform look/texture go for it but if you are looking for a huge change in sound dampening id look elsewhere. Ive had the best luck with sound dampening using dynamat extreme followed by 1/2" thick foam followed by mass loaded vinyl or lead sheet.
