2003 Silverado, good deal?

Dad has found a 2003 Silverado with 28K miles for $11,000. Truck is immaculate inside and very nice outside except for just a couple of minor dings. Extended cab, maroon and champagne two tone with 4 brand new tires and a painted to match camper shell which we'll probably remove.

Good deal? Fair price? Too high? Opinions welcome. Thanks. GTT

Re: 2003 Silverado, good deal?

At a certain point I get a little weirded out by ultra low mileage stuff. Depending on where it was kept and how it lived its life, that could be a good or a bad thing.

Thats almost 15 years old, at less than 2k miles a year! Did it sit a long time?
Some engines that get that little use, also never see the scheduled maintenance. Things like fuel lines/filters/hoses/evap/vacuum should all be looked at closely. In the age of ethanol gas, any rubber that sat with a solvent/ethanol on or around it can deteriorate or corrode.

Re: 2003 Silverado, good deal?

Well, Dad bought the truck. It was originally bought by a man who is now 91 and had not been driving it of late. He and Mom came over in it last night and took my wife and me out to dinner. He insisted that I drive. The truck drove like a brand new truck. Barring some unforeseen issues, I think he got a gem. Thanks for the replies guys. GTT
