Considering LT1 swap into a 95 k1500

I've been consider grabbing a LT1 from a 95 pontiac firebird from a local junk for my 95 chevy pickup. I have done a little research but still have a few questions.

Motor mounts: Will the stock 350 motor mounts work with the LT1 or will I have to have custom ones made?

Gauges: Will my truck's stock gauges accept the sensors from the LT1? Or should I just get a custom gauge panel made for autometer gauges?

Exhaust: Would the stock exhaust bolt up or should I just plan on getting some headers for the LT1 since it makes a bit more power then the stock engine.

Computer: Will the LT1's 4l60e computer reject the 4x4 4l60e in my truck?

I'm also curious about a throttle cable and radiator for this engine swap.

Re: Considering LT1 swap into a 95 k1500

I had this LT1 in a 94 Caprice cop car and for the time it made great power. The achilles heel is the Optispark ignition system. When the water pump develops a leak, it runs right down into the Optispark.

Maybe a better forum for this engine info is the Impala SS forum. http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/

They all ran that engine.

I don't really have any questions about the engine itself other then hooking up my gauges. Just curious if anyone could help with whats needed to hook it up to my truck.

Re: Considering LT1 swap into a 95 k1500

Its alot of work to put an engine with the same head flow as a normal vortec 350. Put the F body cam in the vortec 350 and your pretty much same power, so all the hassle swapping doesn't make sense.

ECU should work the 4l60 fine. mounts are different. Exhaust is different. Radiator might be as the LT's are reverse cooled compared to genI's.

I find it hard to believe that swapping a cam will get me the extra 75hp over the tbi truck cam.

He must have thought you had the Vortec option. You never mentioned TBI till after he posted. You see where he mentioned the heads. That makes it easy to understand I wish I could help with the electronics end. Not my bag. I have a younger buddy who is a wiz with all that I rely on. We put TPI on a built 350 & 4L80E in an '85 K10 that originally was a 305/700R4. I know he did a lot of changes to wire it up on that, but worked w/o a glitch. Hopefully someone will come in with your info needed.

I said a cam in a vortec motor, which swaps into your TBI trucks with no mods, unlike an LT1. Also said pretty close, I'd imagine with .5 less compression it won't be exactly there but again, thats easy to change.
